Director of Controls
Bud is responsible for helping clients achieve greater control over their building systems. He evaluates system performance to identify improvements that can help enable more productive, cost-effective, and energy-efficient operation.
Coordinating with the construction team as they develop estimates and create proposals, Bud reviews scopes of work and standards to help ensure all devices, control sequences, and components can be integrated for maximum effectiveness.
Following the completion of projects, he guides the commissioning process in an effort to deliver systems that provide optimal building environments, reduce energy consumption and costs, and deliver the ongoing value needed for complete client satisfaction.
Along with Precision Controls, Bud also serves as the Director of Controls at Havel, another division of Shambaugh & Son, LP. As a member of Havel’s standards committee on temperature controls, he helps analyze the potential impact of new products, advanced installation techniques, and recent revisions to the Indiana Energy Code.
Bud entered the mechanical construction industry in 1980. For his entire career, he has worked at Shambaugh, Precision Controls, or Havel—holding roles as Branch Manager, Service Manager, and Operations Manager.
His wide array of project experience includes temperature controls installations, mechanical retrofits, maintenance contracting, and wastewater treatment facilities. His expertise extends from technical sales and project management to HVAC evaluation and building commissioning.
A graduate of Bell Labs with a degree in electronics, Bud is also a member of the Central Indiana Chapter of ASHRAE.
Bud enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, as well as hunting, fishing, and winemaking. As a professional pyrotechnician, he also assists with commercial fireworks displays.
